SOUTH STREET SUMMER HOT DOG NIGHTS TUESDAYS THIS SUMMER Representative Liz Malia and City Councilor Matt O'Mally
State Rep. Liz Malia (D-11th Suffolk) and Boston City Councilor Matt O’Malley will launch the 21st anniversary of Summer Hot Dog Nights Tuesday, June 28, at 5 p.m. at the South Street housing development at 125 South St. in Jamaica Plain. Cookouts will be held every Tuesday this summer through Aug. 30.
“The police do a great job of coming out and interacting with the residents,” Malia said. “I’m glad to see this wonderful tradition revived after many years. It really is a model that works and that should be used more often across the city.”
“The South Street Hot Dog Nights are always a highlight of my summer. I am proud and excited to be teaming up with Rep. Malia once again to continue this tradition with our neighbors on South Street,” O’Malley said.
Neighbors and residents of the South Street Boston Housing Development started the event to help build community and bring neighbors together. While the longstanding commitment of both elected and public safety officials to maintain the tradition may not address all the neighborhood’s issues, it does help provide a safe and healthy space for all attendees to interact one hot dog at a time.
