Casey Arborway Project – Project Advisory

Single Track Operation at Forest Hills Station to Begin March 25th, 2017

Beginning on Saturday, March 25, 2017 and running through June all Orange Line train service will arrive and depart from the western side of the Forest Hills platform (towards the Arboretum). Normal two track operation will continue immediately north of the station.

The MBTA has a protocol in place to ensure that this temporary condition, which the agency has used successfully elsewhere in the system, and at Forest Hills from September to December of 2016, does not impact service.

This change in service will allow Casey Arborway project team members to install electrical components and build underground elements associated with the new head-house for Forest Hills Station which will allow Orange Line riders to access transit service from the Southwest Corridor Park, Washington Street, and South Street without crossing the Arborway. Taking this approach allows this work to take place without requiring nighttime and weekend bus substitutions for train service which have a substantial impact on riders.
